Set in the small mountain village of Vermiglio during the final days of World War II, this extended family portrait follows a series of dramatic, consequential events after the arrival of a quiet Sicilian soldier (Giuseppe di Domenico) who is in hiding in a town after leaving the army.
There, the soldier develops a romantic relationship with the family’s eldest daughter, Lucia (Martina Schrinci)
“Vermiglio” depicts the life of a provincial family in a remote village frozen in time by the customs of a declining era.
