Essentially, they manage the land and secure leases so they can drill for oil and gas
Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize agreements with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, worker housing (human camp), set up drilling equipment, and drill the well itself, especially in remote locations.

They are also part of the fixers, problem solvers, and facilitators. A very good start to the two episodes!
Billy Bob Thornton (Tommy Norris) has played the lead role brilliantly
I noticed Jacob Lofland (Cooper Norris) when he was on Justified; Ali Larter (Angela Norris) as Tommy’s ex-wife and Michelle Randolph (Ainsley Norris), Tommy’s daughter, are insufferable and I’m already hoping for something really bad to happen to them! Jon Hamm’s (Monty Miller) character, who owns a company and is Tommy’s boss, may represent my hopefully-unrealized fears about this burgeoning series.
Big Green: Good!
In short, I’m afraid that creator/writer Taylor Sheridan may fall into a bumper sticker mentality and reduce the series to: Big Oil: Bad! If that happens, I’ll change my rating and never watch again!
