For someone who really didn’t know the story, the details of what happened really interested me
During the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, an American sportscast team must adjust to live coverage of Israeli athletes being held hostage by a terrorist group. The performances are believable, the comedy is in all the right places, and the pacing and running time keep you waiting for the credits to roll.
They did a solid job of not telegraphing the plot points
Some might find the lack of a change of scenery boring, but I think it worked here. I think they wanted you to feel like the control room was their world, and to feel like they were there on that eventful day.
It’s thought-provoking without being preachy
They hit the political and emotional points well. The mixing of footage from the event itself, including the broadcast footage, really draws you into the experience.
While it’s not a movie I really plan on watching over and over again, it’s a very well-made piece that I would recommend to friends who enjoy this type of movie
Nice touch.
