Avildsen filmed hours of match footage from multiple angles

Chronology

Decades after their fight at the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, a middle-aged Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence meet again as martial arts rivals. During the original filming of The Karate Kid, the late director John G. The team behind Cobra Kai scoured the studio and found a wealth of never-before-seen clips that were able to be incorporated into the series through flashbacks. One of them features Zabka’s real-life mother standing in the stands from different angles that hadn’t been seen until 2018.

Ralph Macchio told Uproxx that there are three entirely new angles to the famous crane kick

Many believe that Miyagi’s name on his tombstone is a continuity error, as in Karate Kid 4 (1994), his name is Keisuke, but it was actually seen on a sign Chozen held for him in Kid 2 (1986). ) as Nariyoshi. This means that The Next Karate Kid changed his name, while Cobra Kai kept the one he was given earlier. Another interesting fact, however, is that the name given in The Karate Kid Part II was not the original first name given to Miyagi.

There are many things I like about this series

In The Karate Kid (1984), the dog tags attached to Miyagi’s 1948 Ford keys that he received for Daniel’s birthday briefly reveal that Miyagi’s first name is Hideo. They appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon: Anthony Mackie/Ralph Macchio/Kiry Shabazz (2018). For me, perhaps the best thing is that it rejects political correctness and victim culture. Actually, rejection is a strong word, and this is by no means a protest piece, but there is definitely a theme of taking responsibility for your fate and looking at adversity with flexibility and even some aggression.

Johnny Lawrence’s reaction is priceless

(The show is smart enough to portray overt aggression or anger as counterproductive.) There’s a great scene at a karate competition where a contestant is doing hypocritical virtue signaling to the crowd. Let’s hope Hollywood learns that virtue signaling is not a prerequisite for great entertainment. It’s great to see a show that’s smart and has a message but doesn’t take itself too seriously. The new season of “Silo” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
