The entire plot of SILO is a huge minefield full of mystery boxes that the viewer must crawl through. The true art and success of placing mystery boxes depends on how many times the mystery boxes are placed and the viewer’s patience when the mystery boxes are finally opened to the public. At the heart of SILO, the question or central mystery for viewers is: “Why is this community living in an artificial, post-industrial concrete hole in the ground?” The beginning of SILO is interesting.
SILO is a slowly unfolding character-driven drama with mainly recurring themes
The basic “hook”, setting, acting, production values, cinematography are all good if the viewer likes the overall subdued dystopian genre. The viewer may be challenged by the fast-paced assembly line of mystery boxes constantly being discarded and the overall slow pace of the plot.
