The DC Studios logo is on a rainy Gotham alley
Chronology
After the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, makes a play to take the reins of Gotham’s underworld. Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti talk about how they settled into making The Penguin. Colin Farrell fought hard to get his version of The Penguin Smoking Tobacco in Batman (2022), but failed. However, his own series portrays the character as an occasional tobacco user, preferring cigars.
The umbrella drops and the logo changes to the Warner Bros logo
Graham Norton and guests: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). For my taste, Batman was simply shot in the best view of Gotham City. The setting was disgustingly bleak and visually everything you would want to see in what it is known for. A big part of that was the mob dungeon where Oswald, known as the Penguin, came to rule.
This series fully accelerates these aspects and sets up the film perfectly
I can’t say enough about Colin Farrell’s performance in this movie, and honestly, it might just be his magnum opus. The guy gives the character as gritty and Guttery a feel as possible, and it’s so well done that it resonates. Even without Batman, his intrigue is so strong that you don’t even notice. The other side characters are pretty well done, though some of the casting choices seem a little out of place for a few.
I can overlook it though
This series does a great job of continuing to build the Batman universe. I can’t wait to see where they go from here. One of the best series of the last decade easily. Give Colin Farrell all the credit he deserves for this role.
